About Wilbur-Ellis Forage

Wilbur-Ellis forage operates 3 hay compression facilities in North America: the El Centro facility in the Imperial Valley of California and the Lethbridge and Cremona facilities in Alberta, Canada.

The Imperial Valley, also known as the "Winter Salad Bowl", is a highly productive irrigated area formerly a lakebed created by the Colorado River, the current source of water. The combination of sun and 12 month heat produces some of the finest Sudan, Bermuda and Oat hay in the world.

Further north, in the Alberta prairies in Canada, we specialize in producing Timothy Hay, which prefers the cooler temperatures found around Lethbridge. The Cremona facility has the capacity to store 7,000 MT baled hay, thereby allowing us to ship the product directly from the field to the barns and preserve the overall quality.

The spring of 2007 brought Wilbur-Ellis and the Blood Tribe together in a joint venture. Wilbur-Ellis is responsible for marketing the timothy grown and processed on the Blood Tribe Agriculture Project (B.T.A.P.). The project consists of over 5,000 acres of timothy on irrigated land. The Blood Tribe will continue to process the hay with Wilbur-Ellis ensuring the customer's needs are met.
